The murderous assault targeted not only tourists and Tunisians, but also the tolerant and rights-respecting society that Tunisians have been struggling to build over the last four years. Tunisian authorities should show through their response that their commitment to the rule of law is unshaken.
In Ukraine, More Civilians Killed in Cluster Munition Attacks
Using cluster munitions shows utter disregard for civilians. Neither side should use these widely banned weapons; they affect a large area, endangering nearby civilians, and unexploded submunitions pose a risk to civilians long after the attack.

TSA to SPOT terrorists by scanning facial expressions Posted: 18 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT The ACLU and the NYCLU filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit in March 2015 demanding documents relating to the TSA's Screening Passengers by Observation Techniques (SPOT) program. As part of the program, thousands of “behavior detection” officers scrutinize the behavior of travelers in airport screening areas in an attempt to identify anyone who may pose a security risk. If they identify someone exhibiting a "cluster" of behaviors from a list of over 90 indicators that the TSA associates with stress, fear, or deception, they refer that person for secondary inspection or questioning. |

Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité – French Government Begins Blocking Websites it Doesn’t Like Posted: 18 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT There’s no better way to show terrorists you mean business than by preemptively ending freedom before the infidels have a chance to. Ever since the tragic Charlie Hebdo terror attacks, France has responded by turning its back on decency, freedom and civilization itself. While the counterproductive authoritarian government response to terror attacks throughout the Western world has been long noted by myself and countless others, no country has demonstrated a more enthusiastic embrace of fascism and irrationality than France. |

In a short and bad-tempered conference call on Tuesday, officials from the IMF, the European Central Bank and the European Commission complained that Greek officials aren't adhering to a bailout extension deal reached in February or cooperating with creditors, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the call was private. |

Some farmers are skipping out on their fields this year, because they are cashing in on their water rights. Many fields will stay dry because farmers will be doing what was once considered unthinkable: selling their water to Southern California. “In the long term, if we don’t make it available we’re afraid they’ll just take it,” said Charlie Mathews, a fourth generation rice farmer with senior rights to Yuba River water. |

10 Charts Which Show We Are Much Worse Off Than Just Before The Last Economic Crisis Posted: 18 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT If you believe that ignorance is bliss, you might not want to read this article. If you go back to 2007, people were feeling really good about things. |

Biotech Bans Anti-GMO Group from SXSW Food Supply Panel Posted: 18 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT It continues to be clear that the awakened public will not so easily be brought down by the GMO industries. However, at South by Southwest (SXSW), it appears that money from GMO corporations talks as true debate is controlled and censored. Katherine Paul, Associate Director of the Organic Consumers Association (OCA), an organization dedicated to protecting organic standards, has officially been censored from SXSW. |
Get Ready for Embryos From Two Men or Two Women Posted: 18 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT Genetic research is advancing to the day when gay couples could fulfill their dreams of having children related to them both. I’ve helped many same-sex couples over the years have children of their own through assisted reproductive procedures. Egg donation and surrogacy allow two gay men to have children genetically related to one partner and the egg donor, but not to both. It’s the same dynamic for lesbians and sperm donors. I’ve been asked many times by countless same-sex couples over the years: “can we make a baby that’s a combination of both of us?” |
