Netanyahu claims victory in Israel election after hard right shift
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed victory in Israel’s election after exit polls showed he had erased his center-left rivals’ lead with a hard rightward shift in which he abandoned a commitment to negotiate a Palestinian state. Difficult coalition talks still lie ahead. Isaac Herzog, Netanyahu’s chief opponent and head of the center-left Zionist Union, said “everything is still open” and that he already had spoken to party leaders about forming a government.
GCHQ empowered to hack any device anywhere without terrorist, criminal threat – UK court doc
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
The government has admitted to possessing far-reaching hacking powers to break into computers, phones and communications networks anywhere across the globe in the absence of national security and criminal threats, a court document reveals. The startling revelation surfaced after civil rights group Privacy International (PI) filed a legal challenge in 2014 questioning the hacking powers of UK government intelligence agency GCHQ.
Syria Shoots Down US Drone: State Media
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT

FCC NET Neutrality Docs have 46 references to a group funded by billionaire George Soros and co-founded by a neo-Marxist
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
The FCC released the 400-page document on Thursday, two weeks after it passed new regulations, which many fear will turn the internet into a public commodity and thereby stifle innovation.
US Oil Pipeline Industry Quietly Building Network That 'Dwarfs Keystone'
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
Despite public opposition that has so far blocked the building of the Keystone XL pipeline, the fossil fuels industry has successfully—and quietly—expanded the nation's domestic oil network by installing thousands of miles of pipeline across the country, according to newreporting by the Associated Press. "Overall, the network has increased by almost a quarter in the last decade," the AP reports. "And the work dwarfs Keystone. About 3.3 million barrels per day of capacity have been added since 2012 alone—five times more oil than the Canada-to-Texas Keystone line could carry if it's ever built."
Racism, Paranoia and Desperation Mark Netanyahu’s Election Campaign
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
Over the final fortnight of Israel’s election campaign, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has gone from being celebrated for slaying President Barack Obama in the US Congress to looking and sounding more like one of Obama’s least-loved predecessors: Richard Nixon. Tired, confused, desperate and paranoid are just a few of the epithets that have been hurled at Netanyahu in the last days of the campaign.
Plane drops of ammunition helping to reinforce ISIS – reports
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
The Islamic State is getting outside help, with plane drops providing ammunition for the terrorist organization, according to an RT Arabic report. Iraqi government soldiers also say this is a recurring theme and the group is as strong as ever. The battle for Iraq’s Anbar Province continues to rage, despite bombing campaigns from the US and their coalition allies. Notwithstanding a big offensive to try and win back territory lost to the so-called Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) last summer, local Iraqi government soldiers say the militant group is still a potent force.
Judicial Committee Gives FBI The First OK It Needs To Hack Any Computer, Anywhere On The Planet
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
The FBI and DOJ are one step closer to having one of their "keeping up with the digital Joneses" requests granted. While the default phone encryption offered by Apple (and at some point in the future by Google) still remains free of law enforcement/intelligence "Golden Backdoors," the agencies are one step closer to being legally permitted to hack nearly any computer in the world.

New York City Installs 'Electronic Ears' in Major Areas
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
Less than three months into 2015, 184 people have been shot in New York City. To combat this statistic, the city is looking toward a novel solution: gunfire detection systems. But the high cost of installing mics – and the potential for government eavesdropping – leave many wondering if it’s worth it. It’s called ShotSpotter, a large tracking system which detects gunfire and then triangulates the position of the sound. Acoustic sensors are placed in strategic areas, mostly along rooftops or atop telephone poles. Once installed, the sensors pick up street noise and listen for gunshots.

IMF breaks its own rules with loan to war-mongering Ukraine
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has agreed on a scheme of war financing for Ukraine. For the first time, according to Fund sources, the IMF is not only violating its loan repayment conditions, but also the purposes and safeguards of the IMF’s original charter. IMF lending is barred for a member state in civil war or at war with another member state, or for military purposes, according to Article I of the Fund’s 1944-45 Articles of Agreement. This provides “confidence to members by making the general resources of the Fund temporarily available to them under adequate safeguards, thus providing them with opportunity to correct maladjustments in their balance of payments without resorting to measures destructive of national or international prosperity.”
Greek PM To Meet With Putin Amid Cash Crunch
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
With Greece digging around in the couch cushions to try and scrape up €2 billion by Friday in order to make payments to the IMF, the ECB, and Goldman, and with celebrity FinMin Yanis Varoufakis doing his absolute best to sink the entire ship with a series of epic PR faux pas, one is left to wonder just where Athens will turn when Berlin and Brussels finally reach the end of their ropes with what increasingly looks like gross incompetence in the Aegean.
Fukushima Radiation Found in Sample of Green Tea from Japan
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
Four years after the multiple explosions and melt-downs at Fukushima, it seems the scary stories have only just begun to surface. Given that Japan’s authoritarian regime of Shinzo Abe has cracked down on the information flow from Fukushima with a repressive state secrets act, we cannot know for certain what’s happening at the site.
The Undebtors: Sworn Enemies of the Vampires of Debt
    Posted: 16 Mar 2015 10:00 PM PDT
Those who refuse debt, regardless of the sacrifice, are starving the parasitic, exploitive machine; those with debt are feeding it. We hear a lot about debtors, and very little about undebtors. I define an undebtor as an individual or entity that has sworn off debt or considers debt a necessary evil that must be paid off as quickly as possible regardless of the sacrifices required to do so.

The corporate soft drink giant, who has been trying to combat declining sales in the United States, has begun partnering with fitness experts and nutritionists to promote a mini-can of Coke as a ‘healthy’ snack. In February, the idea of drinking a mini-Coke for heart health was suggested on many nutrition blogs and even in major newspapers and websites.
